An outliner that doubles as a kanban board.
Write tasks as a nested list, then view them as a board grouped by status. Everything is stored in plain markdown files on your computer.
The outline and the board show the same data. Drag a card to a different column and its status changes in the outline too. You can use the outline view, the board view, or split them side-by-side. Nesting is unlimited — zoom into any node to focus on just that subtree.
Every item can have a status, tags, and a due date. Statuses are
fully customizable — rename them, recolor them, add new
ones. Tags are just #hashtags in the text. Due dates
show up as overdue, today, or this week so you know what needs
attention.
Navigate, edit, indent, and change status without the mouse. There's optional vim-style navigation (hjkl, dd, yy/p, etc.) and every shortcut can be rebound to whatever you prefer.
Documents are .md files on disk. Open them in any
editor, grep them, commit them to git. Strata watches your
workspace folder and picks up external edits automatically. No
account needed, no cloud, nothing proprietary.
Full-text search across the current document or all documents in your workspace. There's also a command palette for jumping to actions quickly. Export to JSON, Markdown, OPML, or plain text.
Light and dark modes. 13 built-in themes including GitHub, Nord, Dracula, Solarized, Catppuccin, and Tokyo Night. The app runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, or in the browser with no install.
